System & Technical Questions
To create an experience with Silent Sound System, there are two important things you need:
Silent Sound System Transmitter –For all Silent Sound System events, it is essential to have a wired or wireless transmitter. This is how you will broadcast to the masses! Our wired transmitters have a range of up to 1,500 feet and our wireless transmitters transmit up to 900 feet with added Bluetooth connection capabilities.
One transmitter = one audio channel.
Three transmitters can be used for three-channel selection, which gives your guests three different channels of music to choose from! The transmitters are plug and play and can be connected to a phone, laptop, or any other audio source using a 3.5 mm cable. Our mobile transmitters also have Bluetooth connection. We also offer 10-Channel Options.
Silent Sound System Headphones / Audio Receivers – Our Silent Sound System Headphones are LED, wireless, and rechargeable, meaning they are ready to go whenever you are! Listeners control the volume and which channel they listen to using the controls on their headphones. These headphones are not the same as Bluetooth headphones, so you won’t be able to use your own headphones unless you have a Silent Sound System Audio Receiver, which will allow you to connect wired earbuds or headphones using the 3.5 mm jack.
How do you put on a Silent Disco event?
It’s actually much easier than you probably realize!
- Organization – First, you need to be sure to arrange your Silent Sound System rental, or purchase a starter kit. If you’re confused, contact us with any questions!
- Set Up – Silent Sound System is Plug and Play, so setup is a snap! Simply turn on your Wired or Wireless Transmitter and Headphones as shown in your Silent Sound System manual. If more than one audio source is being used, be sure to set all transmitters on different channels. Adjust the audio source volume and headphone volume to your liking, and you’re ready for your event!
When setting up your Silent Event, it is important to make sure you have different styles of music prepared for each channel to suit a variety of guests. This makes switching between channels even more fun!
The wireless headphone connection has three different channels, allowing you to link up the wireless transmitter to three different audio or live music sources. You can even play a movie on one channel, if you’d like.
Your guests can change their music throughout the event depending on what they are feeling in any particular moment. It’s a totally unique experience!
We have a blog post to explain just that!
No way! Our Silent Sound System™ can be used for bilingual meetings, guided tours, working with the hard of hearing, leading groups, teaching classes, watching TV in a restaurant or bar, and whatever else you can come up with!
Of course! Our systems are plug-and-play. You can use an RCA cable to connect any device you’d like.
Most of our systems handle three unique audio channels that correspond to Red, Blue, and Green lighted headphones.
10-Channel systems are also available.
Each Silent Sound System Transmitter or Mobile Transmitter connects to one audio source, such as a phone, laptop, MP3 player, or DJ mixer.
Silent Sound System Transmitters are plug-and-play using the RCA to 3.5mm audio cables provided. Simply plug the RCA end into the back of the transmitter and the 3.5mm cable into your audio device, and you’re ready to send audio to your Silent Sound System Headphones!
Silent Sound System Mobile Transmitters have the ability to connect to an audio source using Bluetooth.
Here are some examples of when to use a given number of transmitters:
1
One Silent Sound System Mobile Transmitter can be used by tour guides and yoga, dance, and fitness instructors teaching classes solo.
One Silent Sound System Transmitter can be used for people looking to have events without worrying about a noise ordinance violation, a DJ looking to offer something different for their audience, a band looking to have a silent concert, and more!
2
Two Silent Sound System Transmitters are great for dueling DJs looking to use a Silent Disco format, bilingual events, and anything else you can think of with two audio sources, like giving people multiple forms of entertainment at an event by showing a movie and playing a playlist at the same time.
Two Silent Sound System Mobile Transmitters are a good fit for fitness and yoga instructors teaching classes with a fellow instructor or tours with two tour guides.
3
Using three Silent Sound System Transmitters uses the full capability of Silent Sound System 3-Channel Headphones. Each channel lights up red, green, or blue to indicate which of the three channels is selected. Having three transmitters is a must for anyone who wants to have a traditional Silent Disco or DJ battle.
Create three separate areas in the same room by setting up a channel for each of three different activities. An electric band, a hypnotist, and a DJ could all share the stage at the same time in different areas at your next event.
4
It’s wonderful to have peace of mind. If you’ve got three Silent Sound System Transmitters and know you’re going to be using all of them regularly, grab at least one extra transmitter on the off chance you have any issues with one of your others during a gig.
More!
If you want more transmitters, we’re not going to stop you! However, if you’re looking to add more channels, ask about our 10-Channel Silent Sound System. It’s great for conferences, bars, restaurants, and more!
